Static Transfer Switch
Pulsar STS
No power, no business. It's as simple as that. Your computer and telecom systems are vital to your company's operation. If they stop, so does your business. That's why you need power you can count on. No matter what. To keep your mission-critical applications up and running, MGE UPS SYSTEMS has developed Pulsar STS.
The Pulsar STS Source Transfer Switch is an efficient and competitive solution that manages two redundant sources to provide absolute power protection. Build a high availablity package with a Pulsar STS powered by 2 Pulsar UPS'.

Principle
The Pulsar STS handles the automatic or manual transfer of your loads between two independent sources that you designate as preferred or alternate. In the event of a failure, transfer is automatic and instantaneous.
Automatic Bypass Function
Pulsar STS can be used as an automatic bypass for the UPS.
Hot Swap Function
Pulsar STS lets you service one of the sources without interrupting the flow of power to your applications.
Reliability and Fault Tolerance
With Pulsar STS, you get more than just source redundancy. With separate electronic control circuits for the preferred and alternate sources and another system to monitor all parameters, the Pulsar STS has internal redundancy as well. In this way, it continues to power your applications even in the event of a fault.
Safe Transfers
"Break Before Make" switching technology makes sure the two sources are never connected to the load at the same time. This prevents fault propagation and avoids creating a single point of failure.
The Pulsar STS is available for loads up to 16A in a rack-mountable form factor. Download a Datasheet here.
Upsilon STS
Upsilon STS™ supplies a number of loads from one of two independent and redundant sources. It ensures no-break transfer from the preferred source to the alternate source in either automatic mode (according to user settings) or manual mode.
Advantages
secure maintenance by de-energising a part of the installation for servicing
simplified maintenance because servicing is fast and does not require interrupting power to the load
improved power availability and possible upgrading to higher ratings
no risk of fault propagation from one source to the other
No-break Transfer
Upsilon STS™ uses the "break before make" technique which ensures no source overlapping, i.e. the sources are never in parallel during transfer. This function eliminates any risk of fault propagation between the two sources.
Upsilon STS™ guarantees transfer in just three milliseconds, i.e. three times faster than required by IEC international standard 62040.

Standard functions
continuous monitoring of the sources (eleven parameters, etc.)
manual or automatic source transfer and return with no break in the supply of power
rolling-switch function for secure transfer between desynchronised sources
redundant internal STS functions (power supply, controls, fans)
isolation switches for maintenance
oversized neutral conductor
graphic LCD screen and multilingual display for easy and user-friendly access to the information and setting screens
animated mimic panel for immediate information on system status
two slots available for communication cards
JBus/Modbus (RS232 or RS485) and dry-contact (six 250V 2A relays) communication interfaces
The Upsilon STS is available for Three Phase loads from 30A to 2000A. Download a Datasheet here.
